Improve the Way You Measure IT

There’s often a significant divide between the way IT and the way finance thinks.  CFOs want to control costs, and they want IT to fit neatly into one box so they can measure it easily.  However, IT is embedded in every organization and every department and every budget, not just one. CFOs need to learn to measure IT differently than other business budget lines.  IT requires a long term investment; it is often given short shrift until something really bad happens. CFOs need to work with CIOs and accept the fact that they need to invest in upgrading infrastructure continuously.   An IT financial management tool and solid processes around that tool will help you better measure the costs of IT.
